Wincor Nixdorf equips Stockholm Public Transport’s ticket shops with cash management solutionStockholm Public Transport is optimizing the cash processes at its ticket windows with cash management technology. At all of its 162 ticket offices in Stockholm, cash flows will be processed using Wincor Nixdorf’s iCash banknote and coin systems. These devices automate the process of cash acceptance and change dispensing, and are controlled by software that is likewise from Wincor Nixdorf. The solution is scheduled to roll out during 2009. After installation, Wincor Nixdorf will assume responsibility for system service and maintenance for a period of four years. Stockholm Public Transport’s goal in installing the new technology is to improve cash provision and removal at its ticket offices and thus optimally control the cash-in-transit services it uses. In order to do this, it is necessary to be able to call up current information on the cash supplies in the iCash systems at any time. TP.net, Wincor Nixdorf’s software for the control of all POS processes, enables central administration of POS systems that can help businesses optimize their cash logistics. All of the cash flows in the ticket shops will be processed within closed cash cycles. This has the advantage that ticket office personnel have no direct access to cash except during the actual payment transaction. As a consequence, inventory discrepancies are reduced and security in the ticket shops is enhanced. In addition, the banknotes in the iCash systems are protected by ink staining. When a defined event occurs, such as vibration or an unauthorized attempt to remove the cassette from the machine, the banknotes in the cassette are stained with ink and thus rendered unusable for payment. |
